We moved to the suburbs, got a dog and named her Freckles. Freckles was my pal!

Those were the days! I could be a cowboy, or a fancy lady drinking tea! I loved my dolls, my toy
cars, my picturebooks and especially - my crayons!
Life was good!
I’m a graduate of the Boston Museum School and Tufts University. I also have a Masters Degree from Massachusetts College of Art and was a special student in Illustration at The Art Institute of Boston. I’ve illustrated numerous books and have taught illustration at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. I have also been a board member of the Picture Book Artist’s Association (PBAA)
I grew some more and had some adventures along the way.
Born in Buffalo, New York, I started small. It took a long time for me to grow some hair.
Finally! I grew some hair. I even had enough to wear a bow in it.
Uh oh! Bad hair days and school pictures! Good thing I wasn’t the class hair stylist. I was the class artist! Teachers put my drawings on bulletin boards a lot. I loved school, I loved books and I loved having my drawings up on bulletin boards! At night, when I was supposed to be sleeping, I read under the covers with a flash light and played school with my dolls and stuffed animals.
I’m not sure exactly how old I was here, but we had some funny hair styles back then.
This picture, on the right, is from our town newspaper. They wrote about me being the art editor of my school newspaper, designing programs for our school plays, doing artwork for a brochure about the school band and painting backdrops for our school musical. To be honest, I had forgotten that I did all those things. Looking through these old photos, I found the article and it brought back memories.
When I graduated from high school, things became a bit more colorful. I went off to art school in Boston. It was even better than regular school. And I liked Boston so much that I’ve been here ever since.
Of course, I still went home to visit.
Another school picture! But this time I was a teacher. After I graduated from art school, I became an art teacher. But, I wanted more time to do artwork. I took classes in illustration and started building my portfolio.

When I got to high school, my hair and I got more serious.
I had the best art teacher ever and wonderful parents who supported me in every possible way. That, I will never forget
One fine day, I married a man named Paul. We had a little girl named Kate. As you can see, she also started small. She didn’t seem to care for those booties that looked like roller skates, but most of the time she was happy. She certainly made us happy! Kate and I spent many happy hours reading picture books together when she was little. It was after Kate was born that I left my teaching job to be an illustrator. So that’s how it all began. And that’s where the pictures of me end!
Kate is all grown up now. But, I have a little dog named Kappy who keeps me company all day long.
